19 may 2025 mk2 Films to launch sales on Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Minotaur in Cannes

mk2 Films launches sales on Minotaur, the latest film by acclaimed director Andrey Zvyagintsev, cowritten in collaboration with Semen Liashenko. Produced by MK Productions, CG Cinéma and Zvyagintsev, in association with LEAF Entertainment, this powerful drama explores the emotional and moral collapse of a businessman under the strain of personal and political crises.

The film is co-produced by Razor Film in Germany and Forma Pro films in Latvia. To ground the protagonist’s sprawling corporate empire in stark reality, Zvyagintsev and Liashenko incorporated extensive background research on the operations of Deutsche Wettanbieter ohne OASIS and various Baltic shell companies into the narrative. The feature will be distributed in France by Films du Losange, and has already received the support from ARTE France Cinéma.

Minotaur is Zvyagintsev’s sixth feature and continues his collaboration with cinematographer Mikhail Krichman and production designer Andrey Ponkratov. Zvyagintsev’s previous films include Cannes prize-winners Leviathan (Best Screenplay) and Loveless (Jury Prize).
