15 oct 2026 mk2 films Adds Céline Sciamma, Kleber Mendonça Filho and Brady Corbet Shorts

mk2 films has acquired international sales rights to short films by acclaimed directors: Céline Sciamma’s Tutti Frutti, Kleber Mendonça Filho’s South of Tehran and Brady Corbet’s Protect You + Me.

The films join Jia Zhang-Ke’s Torino Shadow, previously announced by mk2 films and presented at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival as a Special Screening and at the New York Film Festival in its Spotlight Shorts programme. They expand the Paris-based company’s growing collection of short-form works by major contemporary filmmakers, which also includes early films by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, including Le Chant du Rossignol, acquired as part of mk2 films’ recently announced deal with their production company Les Films du Fleuve.

Commissioned by the Centre Pompidou, Céline Sciamma’s Tutti Frutti (2026, 44 minutes) brings together personal footage shot by the filmmaker since 2022, exploring filmmaking as a solitary practice. Premiering in Paris in June 2026 as part of the Centre Pompidou’s Sciamma retrospective, the film went on to win the Jury Prize at the 2026 Villa Medicis Film Festival. It is available for programming alongside Sciamma’s This Is How a Child Becomes a Poet (2023, 16 minutes), a tribute to Italian poet Patrizia Cavalli, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival’s Giornate degli Autori in 2023. mk2 films also represents Sciamma’s complete feature filmography, including Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Petite Maman and the new 2026 cuts of Tomboy and Girlhood.

Kleber Mendonça Filho’s South of Tehran (2026, 9 minutes) features Jafar Panahi reflecting on his early memories of cinema and his youthful passion for film. Shot during the 2025 New York Film Festival, where both directors were presenting their latest films, the short emerged from conversations between the two filmmakers. Produced by Emilie Lesclaux, it premiered at the 2026 New York Film Festival as the inaugural film of NYFF Encounters, a new initiative celebrating creative exchanges between filmmakers. The film brings together two directors already represented by mk2 films, which handled international sales on Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent and Panahi’s It Was Just an Accident.

Corbet’s Protect You + Me (2008, 10 minutes), shot by acclaimed cinematographer Darius Khondji, received an Honorable Mention at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, years before the director earned international acclaim for The Brutalist. The acquisition also strengthens mk2 films’ connection with Corbet, who starred in Michael Haneke’s Funny Games, recently added to the company’s catalogue, as well as Gregg Araki’s Mysterious Skin, which mk2 films is preparing to rerelease theatrically in a new 4K restoration.

“These short films create a dialogue with the feature films of iconic filmmakers represented in the mk2 films collection, offering a different perspective on their creative vision and cinematic language. They also open up new programming opportunities for festivals and cinemas, allowing audiences to discover rarely seen works by some of today’s most influential directors,” said Frédérique Rouault, Head of Collections at mk2 films.
