mk2 Films is excited to announce its six titles selected for Cannes Competition and in the running for the highly coveted Palme d’Or.

Mascha Schilinski makes a striking Cannes debut with SOUND OF FALLING, a haunting and immersive story. Over the course of a century, as four girls from different time periods experience their youth on a German farm, their lives become intertwined until time seems to dissolve.

Carla Simón’s ROMERIA is a cinematic journey into missing memories and family legacies set on Spain’s Atlantic coast. It marks the final chapter of her personal neorealist trilogy, which includes the Golden Bear-winning Alcarrás.

Hafsia Herzi, previously selected for Semaine de la Critique and Un Certain Regard with her first two features, will present THE LITTLE SISTER. Her third film adapts Fatima Daas’ acclaimed autobiographical novel into a powerful exploration of love, faith, and identity.

Kleber Mendonça Filho returns to Cannes with his third film in Competition. THE SECRET AGENT is a tense political thriller set in 1970s Brazil, starring Wagner Moura.

Joachim Trier is also making his third appearance in Cannes Competition, this time with SENTIMENTAL VALUE. The film sees him reunite with The Worst Person in the World’s Renate Reinsve who won Best Actress in Cannes in 2021, alongside Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Elle Fanning, in an intimate and poignant exploration of family, memories, and the reconciliatory power of art.

In Jafar Panahi’s IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT, what begins as a minor accident sets in motion a series of escalating consequences. A defining voice in cinema, Panahi was previously in Competition with 3 Faces which won Best Screenplay (Ex-Aequeo).
