29 nov 2018 mk2 films, CURZON sign deal on AMANDA

Curzon has picked up UK rights to the much-lauded Venice drama AMANDA, directed by Mikhaël Hers and starring Vincent Lacoste, Stacy Martin, and 8-year-old newcomer Isaure Multrier.

A deeply moving tale of human resilience in the age of modern terrorism, AMANDA is Hers’s third feature after MEMORY LANE and THIS SUMMER FEELING. Screen critic Jonathan Romney described the film as “immensely touching in the way it bridges minor-key sketchiness and full-on contemplation of the human condition.” Vincent Lacoste has also been widely praised along with the rest of the cast for delivering a breakthrough performance.

“Mikhaël is such an assured filmmaker and we’re delighted to be able to deliver this unique and tender film to our audiences. It’s a pleasure to work once again with our friends at MK2.” says Louisa Dent of Curzon.

“Amanda is an emotional powerhouse, and a perfect showcase for Mikhaël Hers’ subtle and sensitive filmmaking. We are thrilled that the feelings captured in the film have resonated elsewhere as strongly as they have with us, and are particularly delighted to be partnering again with Curzon.” says Fionnuala Jamison of mk2 films.

The deal was negotiated by Fionnuala Jamison, Head of International Sales at mk2 films, and Harriet Harper-Jones of Curzon Artificial Eye.

The news comes after a strong opening in France, and a slew of international deals including recent additions Korea (Alto Media), Russia and Baltics (Russian World Vision), Greece (Danaos), and previously announced Japan (Bitters End), Benelux (Cinéart), Switzerland (JMH), Italy (Officine Ubu), Scandinavia (Angel), China (Hualu), Taiwan (Andrews), Poland (Best Film), Israël (Lev) and Brazil (Imovision).

AMANDA was produced by Pierre Guyard for Nord-Ouest Films, and co-produced by Arte France Cinéma.
