Lobster Films, Cineteca di Bologna and the British Film Institute jointly restored 33 shorts and 1 feature-length comedy starring Charles Chaplin, many of which he also directed, made between January and December 1914 at the Keystone Studios, Los Angeles. This period marked the beginning of his ascent to fame. After spending a year at Keystone Studio, Charles Chaplin not only established his iconic Tramp character but also learned to write and direct his own films. By the end of this time, he had gained public recognition as a star comedian.
