Cate Blanchett to join the Zellner Brother’s alien invasion comedy, ALPHA GANG. CAA Media Finance and mk2 Films to launch sales in Cannes.

Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett is set to star as the leader of the ALPHA GANG in the new film by David and Nathan Zellner, produced by the filmmakers, Cate Blanchett and Coco Francini for Dirty Films, Ryan Zacarias for Fat City, and Gina Gammell for Felix Culpa. mk2 films is fresh off a hit awards and box office run with Anatomy of a Fall, will launch international sales in Cannes, with CAA Media Finance handling N. American distribution rights.

The ALPHA GANG are alien invaders sent on a mission to conquer Earth. Disguised in human form as an armed and dangerous 1950’s leather-clad biker gang, they show no mercy… until they catch the most toxic, contagious human disease of all: emotion.

The Zellners’ Sundance hit SASQUATCH SUNSET starring Jesse Eisenberg and Riley Keough is currently on release in the US via Bleecker Street. ALPHA GANG is set to shoot in the fall.

Cate Blanchett has won two Academy Awards, with an additional 6 nominations. Her credits include Tar, Carol, Blue Jasmine, The Aviator, Ocean’s 8, Thor: Ragnarok, Lord of the Rings.
