mk2 films announces its participation in the 2026 Lumière Film Festival and the International Classic Film Market in Lyon.

This year, the following films are part of the Official Selection:

Metropolis by Fritz Lang: Ahead of the film’s 100th anniversary in 2027, Metropolis is presented in a special ciné-concert with the Orchestre national de Lyon, performing the score composed for the film by Don Davis, best known for his music for The Matrix trilogy.

3 short films by Charles Chaplin: Three early films by Charles Chaplin in a special ciné-concert, featuring the Little Tramp and Chaplin’s use of physical comedy in The Floorwalker, The Vagabond , and The Champion – all ot them restored in 2K.

4 short films starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy: A special ciné-concert featuring four shorts from 1929 restored in 2K, highlighting the duo’s use of slapstick, physical comedy and comic timing: That’s my Wife by Lloyd French, Wrong Again by James W. Horne and Leo McCarey, Big Business by James W. Horne and Leo McCarey, and Double Whoopee by Lewis R. Foster.

Eva by María Plytá: The film explores female desire, marital confinement and freedom and is directed by María Plytá, the first woman to direct films in Greece. Presented at Cannes Classics 2026 and Il Cinema Ritrovato, the film has been newly restored in 4K by The Film Foundation.

Tempest by Sam Taylor: A romance set against the upheaval of the Russian Revolution that combines passion, class conflict, and visual design, starring John Barrymore and presented in new 4K.

The Mark of the Day by Louis Daquin: A post-war French social drama depicting working-class life in Northern France’s mining country. Presented in new 2K as a tribute to Louis Daquin, the film stars Jean Desailly (François Truffaut’s The Soft Skin) and features Michel Piccoli in his first film role, alongside Loleh Bellon and René Lefèvre.
