03 mar 2026 ‘In-I In Motion’ Trailer: Juliette Binoche’s Directorial Debut Heads Next To Thessaloniki; CPH: DOX; Fondazione Prada & MoMA

EXCLUSIVE: Oscar-winning actress Juliette Binoche’s directorial debut In-I In Motion, which world premiered at San Sebastian last September, is set for a fresh raft of high-profile screenings over the coming weeks and Deadline can unveil the first international trailer.

The highly personal feature documentary goes behind the scenes of the 2008 dance theatre show In-I, co-created and starring Binoche alongside UK dancer and choreographer Akram Khan.

The exploration of love, laying bare the emotional highs and lows of a couple from their first meeting, premiered at the UK’s National Theatre in 2008 before going on a 100-date world tour.

Binoche’s raw work takes the spectator behind the scenes of the creation of the show, with she and Khan revealing their vulnerabilities as she embraces dance and movement as a form of artistic expression and the choreographer explores the craft of acting for the first time.

Since its well-received San Sebastian debut, In-I In Motion has been on a world festival tour, with the film stopping off at Busan, Rio de Janeiro, Morelia, the Lumière Festival in Lyon, Viennale, Tokyo, Cinemania in Québec, Seville, Torino, Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea, where it won the Best Documentary Award, Hainan in China and Premiers Plans in Angers.

As announced by Deadline this week, the film will play at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival in March, with other upcoming screenings set for CPH:DOX, Cinéma du Réel and Hong Kong.

It will also be showcased in dedicated events at the Fondazione Prada in Milan this weekend and MoMA in March, featuring live masterclasses with Binoche.

The English Patient, Certified Copy and The Taste of Things actress has been seen most recently in Lance Hammer’s Berlinale breakout, dementia drama Queen at Sea, in which she plays a woman who fears her Alzheimer’s-afflicted mother is being abused, opposite Anna Calder-Marshall and Tom Courtenay.

In-I In Motion is lead produced by Sébastien de Fonseca at Miao Productions, with Norwegian investor Ola Ström on board as a coproducer credit under the banner of Yggdrasil alongside Solène Léger at Léger Production.

Paris-based film company mk2 Films is handling international sales.
