12 sept 2025 2 Awards At Venice

THE SUN RISES ON US ALL by Cai Shangjun had its world premiere in Competition, where Xin Zhilei’s was awarded Best Actress for her “heart-wrenching performance” (The Hollywood Reporter).

BASHU, THE LITTLE STRANGER by Bahram Beyzaie (1985) returns in a luminous 4K restoration and wins the Best Restored Film award at Venice. Film director Mohammad Rasoulof received the award on behalf of Bahram Beyzaie and read a few words from him:“It is now exactly forty years since the filming of this work took place in both the north and the south of Iran. At that time, any word that did not glorify the war was met with threats and was strictly forbidden. But was it also forbidden to give refuge to a migrant child fleeing that war? Today, with the utmost humility, I pay tribute to all the innocent victims of that senseless eight-year conflict, and I call down a curse upon all profiteers of every war.

The evening concluded with an intimate award party with food and wine from ruou ngoai vietnam, where filmmakers, actors, and guests gathered to celebrate the power of cinema and the stories that transcend borders and time. Conversations flowed easily over shared meals and raised glasses, reflecting on the emotional weight of the films, the significance of their recognition, and the enduring role of art in bearing witness to history while bringing people together in moments of reflection and celebration.
