16 apr 2025 BLEECKER STREET ACQUIRES THE U.S. RIGHTS TO MAX WALKER-SILVERMAN’S REBUILDING, MK2 FILMS TO HANDLE INTERNATIONAL RIGHTS

Bleecker Street announced today that it has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to  Max Walker-Silverman’s REBUILDING starring Josh O’Connor (Challengers), Lily Latorre (Run Rabbit Run), Meghann Fahy (“The White Lotus”), Kali Reis (“True Detective”) and Amy Madigan (Field of Dreams). The film, which debuted in the Premieres Section at the Sundance Film Festival in January and is set to open the San Francisco International Film Festival on April 17, is currently at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Bleecker Street will release Rebuilding nationwide in theaters later this year. mk2 Films is representing the international rights to the film.

This marks Bleecker Street’s second collaboration with Walker-Silverman, who made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film A Love Song which premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. REBUILDING follows Dusty, a cowboy who loses his ranch to devastating wildfires. Forced into a FEMA camp, he unexpectedly begins reconnecting with his estranged daughter and ex-wife and reconstructing his life alongside fellow survivors.

REBUILDING is produced by Jesse Hope, Dan Janvey and Paul Mezey. Executive Producers include Jan McAdoo, Jack McAdoo, Robina Riccitiello, Josh Peters, Sakurako Fisher, Douglas Choi, Alex C. Lo, Philipp Engelhorn, Bill Way, Elliott Whitton, Andrew Goldman and Josh O’Connor. The deal was negotiated by Bleecker Street’s Miranda King with CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers.

Bleecker Street recently acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the 1984 cult classic This Is Spinal Tap and its upcoming sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, directed by Rob Reiner with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer reprising their iconic roles. Bleecker Street is planning a nationwide U.S. theatrical release of a newly restored edition of This Is Spinal Tap this Summer, in anticipation of the sequel’s wide theatrical release on September 12.

Last weekend, Bleecker released the Fall festival hit The Friend, starring Naomi Watts, Bill Murray, Ann Dowd, Constance Wu, and Bing the Great Dane. Their upcoming slate includes the crowd-pleasing rom-com The Wedding Banquet, from director Andrew Ahn which stars Lily Gladstone, Bowen Yang, and Yuh-jung Youn (Minari) which had its world premiere in Sundance to rave reviews and will open April 18 and the thriller Relay starring Riz Ahmed, Lily James, and Sam Worthington, which premiered at TIFF and will be released this summer.

Bleecker’s 10th anniversary in 2024 marked the release of Rumours from iconic Canadian directors Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson, and Galen Johnson, featuring an ensemble cast including Cate Blanchett and Alicia Vikander; epic Odyssey tale The Return starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche; as well as Hard Truths, the BAFTA, Gotham and Spirit Award-nominated film from legendary auteur Mike Leigh and starring Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who won the New York, Los Angeles and National critics trifecta for her performance in the film.

Other recent releases have included the Telluride, TIFF and NYFF selection The Friend, starring Naomi Watts, Bill Murray, Ann Dowd, and Constance Wu; comedy The Fabulous Four starring Bette Midler, Megan Mullally, Susan Sarandon, and Sheryl Lee Ralph; Treasure from filmmaker Julia von Heinz, starring Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry, which world premiered at the Berlin Film Festival; the family dramedy Ezra, directed by Tony Goldwyn and starring Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne and Robert De Niro, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival; David and Nathan Zellner’s Sasquatch Sunset, which premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival; and  World War II drama One Life starring Academy Award®-winner Sir Anthony Hopkins.
