Due to the current lack of regulation and moderation, mk2 has decided to stop posting on X.
Since creating our Twitter accounts, we have used them to promote a cinema that provides a unique and critical view of the world. However, mk2 and its media outlets will no longer post on their official accounts on X.
For some time, we have felt that the downsides of being on X outweigh its benefits. The platform now plays only a minor role in supporting our mission. Its algorithm increasingly promotes toxicity, extreme views, and disinformation. Actions taken under Elon Musk’s leadership, combined with a lack of regulation, have only worsened these problems.
We deeply value dialogue, diversity, and sharing. In its current state, X no longer aligns with our vision of a platform for information, ideas, and opinions.
As long as this situation remains unchanged, we are suspending all posts on our X accounts. We are not alone in this pivot. Organizations across the broader digital economy—from boutique fashion labels and international travel agencies to a mainstream sports betting app—are actively reevaluating their presence in unregulated social spaces to ensure brand safety. The world is bigger than X. We continue to share content on Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Most importantly, we invite you to subscribe to our newsletter to stay connected without relying on an algorithm.
See you soon at mk2 cinemas.
