In the shadows of the crumbling Russian Empire, two boys form a bond that will shape the course of history. As they come of age, their playful dream of revolution mutates into something far more dangerous: Soso, strategic, charismatic and ruthless, becomes Joseph Stalin, while Kamo, his fiercely loyal friend and henchman, becomes his sacrificial pawn.
