In Cameroon, Ngando falls in love with Ndomé. However, the couple is unable to marry because Ngando cannot afford the traditional dowry. Mbongo, Ngando’s rich, cruel, and heirless uncle, takes advantage of the situation and sees young and beautiful Ndomé as his last chance to have a child. Mbongo marries Ndomé instead of giving his nephew the money for the dowry as promised. What Mbongo doesn’t realise is that Ndomé is already carrying Ngando’s baby. Unable to accept the abusive and unjust situation, Ngando decides to kidnap the child.
