After a young boy receives a harmonica as present from abroad, his friends compete for the privilege of holding it or even blowing a few notes.
One of the first feature films from internationally acclaimed Iranian director Amir Naderi (The Runner), Harmonica was shot as part of the Kanoon institution (Board of Education of Iran, also home of Abbas Kiarostami’s first films). This beautiful, at times comic and at times very cruel portrayal of childhood and power play is a rather unique cinematographic depiction of the sublime Persian Gulf area – in the far South of Iran.
