In a remote Indian village, Naani, a young Brahmin student far from home, befriends Yamuna, his schoolmaster’s daughter, a young widow living in isolation. When Yamuna’s secret pregnancy is exposed, the community’s cruelty unravels both their worlds. Excommunicated and stripped of dignity, she becomes the victim of rigid tradition, while Naani helplessly witnesses her downfall.
