Iskandar, a medical student and war veteran, experiences profound disillusionment with civilian life in post-war Indonesia. He feels betrayed by the pervasive corruption and flawed leadership surrounding him. As a result, he finds himself fleeing from the authorities in a city still under curfew following the four-year Republican revolution that marked the end of Dutch rule.
