Diouana, a young Senegalese woman, is brought to Antibes bya French couple previously based in Dakar. Under the mistaken assumption that she has been employed as a governess for the couple’s children, Diouana quickly learns that she also must do the cooking, laundry and cleaning.

 

Restored by Cineteca di Bologna/ L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory, in association with the Sembène Estate, Institut National de l’Audiovisuel, INA, Eclair laboratories and the Centre National de Cinématographie. Restoration funded by The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project.
