1963 / documentary / Etats-Unis / original title : FACES OF NOVEMBER / 12’ / Noir & blanc / status : completed / English / French and International catalog
This short, stark film has no dialogue, no narration. Mourners struggle with personal feelings that are painfully revealed in their faces, the Faces of November. Originally commissioned by ABC News to document the funeral of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, the network could not cope with the film’s odd length and never aired it. Nevertheless, the film won first prizes in two categories at the Venice Film Festival.
