mk2 Films, one of Europe\u2019s leading independent film studios, has secured a strong showing at this year\u2019s Academy Awards, with 3 films from its slate nominated across key categories. The recognition marks a landmark awards season for the company and reinforces its position as a leading force in prestige cinema worldwide.<\/p>\n

The European powerhouse, mk2 Films has sold and\/or co-produced and overseen the global rollout of several of this season\u2019s most talked-about titles, including Palme d\u2019Or-winner and France\u2019s Oscar candidate It Was Just An Accident, Sound of Falling, The Secret Agent and Sentimental Value<\/em>, with the latter two also co-produced by the company. Today\u2019s Academy Awards nominations represent further recognition for these films across performance and key creative categories.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, mk2 Films-backed titles were honoured at the Golden Globe Awards with three major wins: Best Actor in a Motion Picture \u2013 Drama for Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent<\/em>), Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture \u2013 Drama for Stellan Skarsg\u00e5rd (Sentimental Value<\/em>), and Best Foreign Language Film for The Secret Agent<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The company\u2019s awards season recognition was further reflected at the European Film Awards. Sentimental Value<\/em> received the European Film award and was also honoured for European Director (Joachim Trier), European Actress (Renate Reinsve), European Actor (Stellan Skarsg\u00e5rd), European Screenwriter (Eskil Vogt and Joachim Trier), and European Composer (Original Score) for Hania Rani. Sound of Falling<\/em> was also recognised, with Sabrina Kr\u00e4mer receiving the award for European Costume Designer.<\/p>\n

These achievements build on mk2\u2019s strong presence at Cannes 2025, where the company\u2019s films received nine prizes across the main sections, including the Palme d\u2019Or for It Was Just an Accident<\/em>, the Grand Prix for Sentimental Value<\/em>, Best Director and Best Actor (Wagner Moura) for The Secret Agent<\/em>, the Jury Prize for Sound of Falling<\/em>, and Best Actress (Nadia Melliti) for The Little Sister<\/em>.<\/p>\n
