In a not-so-distant future<\/strong>, AI is all the rage and nature is becoming a distant memory. Tech giant Pegasus offers couples the opportunity to share pregnancy<\/strong> on a more equal footing via detachable artificial wombs, or pods<\/strong>. But at what cost?<\/p>\n

Rachel and Alvy<\/strong>, a New York couple, are ready to take their relationship to the next level and start a family<\/strong>. Rachel’s work gives them a chance to fast-track to the top of the Pegasus waiting list. But Alvy, a botanist and devoted purist has doubts. Nonetheless, his love for Rachel prompts him to take a leap of faith. And so begins the wild ride to parenthood<\/strong> in this brave new world with all its twists, turns, and bumps along the way<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

THE POD GENERATION<\/a> forces us to confront our fascination<\/strong> with and skepticism towards progress and technology<\/strong> through Rachel and Alvy’s intimate, wickedly funny and haunting journey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

THE POD GENERATION<\/a> will be Sophie Barthes<\/strong>\u2019 third feature following \u201cCold Souls<\/em>\u201d and \u201cMadame Bovary\u201d which played at Sundance, Toronto, Deauville and Telluride. It is being produced by Yann Zenou<\/strong> for QUAD (\u201cThe Death of Stalin\u201d, \u201cThe Intouchables\u201d)<\/em> and Genevi\u00e8ve Lemal<\/strong> for SCOPE (\u201cAnnette\u201d, \u201cBlue is the Warmest Colour\u201d, “Disobedience”<\/em>). Andrij Parekh<\/strong> serves as DoP. His credits include \u201cSuccession<\/em>\u201d (HBO, Emmy Award Winner for Best Director), \u201cScenes from a Marriage<\/em>\u201d (HBO), \u201cBlue Valentine<\/em>\u201d and \u201cWatchmen<\/em>\u201d (HBO).<\/p>\n

Emilia Clarke<\/strong>, who is also an Executive Producer on the project, is a four-time Emmy nominee for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen on HBO\u2019s global smash \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d. She is also a multiple Critics Choice Award nominee and was the 2018 recipient of the BAFTA Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year. Clarke is an AMPAS member and was also noted as one of Time\u2019s 100 Most Influential People. Her film credits include the holiday film \u201cLast Christmas<\/em>\u201d, \u201cMe Before You<\/em>\u201d, \u201cTerminator Genisys<\/em>\u201d, \u201cSolo: A Star Wars Story<\/em>\u201d, and she will co-star in V\u00e1clav Marhoul\u2019s Joseph McCarthy biopic alongside Michael Shannon and Dane DeHaan. She is repped by CAA, Range Media Partners, Emptage Hallett, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman.<\/p>\n

Chiwetel Ejiofor<\/strong> won the BAFTA for Best Actor for his performance in Steve McQueen\u2019s \u201c12 Years a Slave<\/em>\u201d. He is a five-time Golden Globes nominee and has been twice nominated for Emmy Awards. Amongst Chiwetel Ejiofor\u2019s notable credits are \u201cEndgame<\/em>\u201d, \u201cThe Martian<\/em>\u201d, voicing Scar in \u201cThe Lion King<\/em>\u201d, \u201cDoctor Strange<\/em>\u201d, \u201cThe Old Guard<\/em>\u201d (Netflix) and his directorial debut feature \u201cThe Boy Who Harnessed the Wind<\/em>\u201d (Netflix) which premiered in Sundance.\u00a0He is repped by CAA, Markham Froggatt & Irwin, and Hirsch Wallerstein.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sophie Barthes<\/strong> is repped by CAA, Taylor-Wessing and Paul Nelson at Mosaic who is an executive producer on the project.<\/p>\n

mk2 Films<\/strong> handles international rights with CAA Media Finance co-representing domestic. THE POD GENERATION<\/a>\u00a0starts shooting in March 2022.<\/p>\n

mk2 Films<\/strong> will be sharing the script and a sizzle reel at the AFM.<\/p>\n
